What is LinkedIn?
About the foundation: LinkedIn was founded in 2002 and started operating in 2003. It has now reached 100million registered users and more than half of them are from outside the US. It is used in 200 countries worldwide. The number of users is also growing in Hungary thanks to the social media trend.
LinkedIn quickly became profitable in the US, although it took 6 years to reach 50 million users.
LinkedIn is a business/professional social networking site. Quite simply an online CV/online professional CV.
Once registered, you can create your own profile, which you can update continuously. You can upload a profile picture, add schools, previous jobs, courses and experience, and other skills and personal characteristics.
According to a SocialTimes figure published in March, it has more than 127 000 users in Hungary. There are 39,000 men, 31,000 women and it is likely that the remaining 56,000 users are companies. As the focus is on online CVs, the majority of Hungarian users are aged between 25 and 34, roughly 17 000.

What can LinkedIn be used for?
Job search: it is possible to monitor which companies are present in a given job category, and what the company's statistics are in terms of employees (how many women and men work in the company). You can also see what job vacancies are available in the sector concerned.
For recruitment: precisely because our profile is the equivalent of a CV, other LinkedIn users (HR, headhunters) have the opportunity to look at our profile and if they find the information we provide relevant and they need us, they can contact us for an interview/interview.
To build a relationship: If you need a good dentist, and a friend or acquaintance of a friend or acquaintance has a dentist who is skilled/fine and good at what he or she does, you can quickly find that dentist through your acquaintance. If they don't seem to like the dentist at first glance, we can ask them for their opinion of the dentist by sending a message. In other words, you can easily gain business contacts.

Who is LinkedIn recommended for?
It's a useful and useful tool for business leaders, managers, middle managers, self-employed, academics and anyone who wants to build business relationships.
In Hungary, there are still only a few users (170 000), but LinkedIn users worldwide include doctors, engineers, lawyers, high school teachers, bakers, carpenters, university graduates and young professionals.

LinkedIn could become a pretty big social networking site as it grows. By LinkedIn's own admission, its user base is growing by one person every second.
