A Whatsapp | Weboptim
Whatsapp was founded in 2009 by Jan Koum. His goal was to create an alternative to texting. The app quickly spread and by the time Facebook acquired it in 2014, it had hundreds of millions of users.
Whatsapp is an instant messaging service, almost like SMS.
You do not need to register to use it, as it is identified by phone number. So you can get in touch with people who are also using the app almost instantly. You can send a plain text message, but also a picture, video or voice message.
Whatsapp is free to download for both Android and iOS.
Who uses it?
The number of users has grown rapidly. How many active users do you have in 201? According to the latest update, the messaging app has 1.2 billion users.
The number of active users has increased by around 167% since Facebook took over. Monthly activity on the service increased from 1 billion to 1.2 billion between February 2016 and February 2017. So it took just one year to add 200 million new active users.
Today, it is used in more than 180 countries and users exchange around 50 million messages and calls every day.
Users are young, with more than half under 36 years old. Around 20% are aged 18-24 and 30% are aged 25-35.

You can make free calls using your data connection, avoiding call time and long distance charges. As long as you and your partner are connected to Wifi or mobile internet, the call is free. But we cannot use it to access emergency services.

Whatsapp as a marketing tool
Whataspp can be used for marketing in a variety of ways, such as setting a brand profile picture, adding catchy messages in the status field, sending interesting pictures or videos to groups, or sending birthday wishes.
It can also be a good solution for internal company communication, with the web application making it even easier to send messages.
You can use it for customer communication - if you track your customers with WhatsApp instead of direct phone calls, you can get up to 40% more responses. Nobody likes calls from unknown numbers, but we're more likely to respond to personal messages.
Suitable for customer assistance - can be a great customer service tool. Customers prefer to send a message rather than call the helpdesk phone number. Of course, it's not a good solution for all types of businesses, it may not be ideal for companies that receive hundreds of customer calls every day.
It can also be used for marketing and advertising - sending pictures, audio files, short audio files, text messages to users all over the world.
